Most gyms and training programs are set up to make you good at lifting weights. Unless your goal is to become a bodybuilder, Olympic lifter, or power lifter… that shouldn’t be the point of training.
100 Year Athlete is set up to support your passions. The gym is just a training tool for what you love to do, whether it’s skiing and mountain biking or golf and pickleball. We’re not obsessed with your bench or squat. We care about athleticism, which is the key to longevity.

Why We Created 100 Year Athlete
100 Year Athlete was inspired by aging mountain athletes who lost years of quality recreation to preventable injuries and unsustainable training habits. Informed by the latest research on human health and sports performance, we developed a longevity-based fitness program for all forms of adventure and sport.
For over seven years, we’ve tested 100 Year Athlete with athletes between ages 35 and 80+ who put significantly more strain on their bodies than the average person. They include extreme skiers and snowboarders, mountain bikers, trail runners, rock climbers, triathletes, golfers, and pickleballers.
Who We Are
Based in and around Park City, Utah, the 100 Year Athlete team gets out in the mountains year round. We ski, board, bike, hike and climb, and you’ll find some of us out on the pickleball courts and fairways too. We train for a lifetime of adventure, and we help others on the same journey.

Blurb A:
Most gyms and training programs are set up to make you good at lifting weights. Unless your goal is to become a bodybuilder, Olympic lifter, or power lifter… that shouldn’t be the point of training
100 Year Athlete is set up to support your passions. The gym is just a training tool for what you love to do, whether it’s skiing and mountain biking or golf and pickleball. We’re not obsessed with your bench or squat. We care about athleticism, which is the key to longevity.
Blurb B:
In 100 Year Athlete, you work one-on-one with one of our trainers. We have specialists in strength and conditioning, Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), nutrition, endurance, and more. They are experts in customizing your program to your sports and activities.
How do we do that?
We use principles of fitness and nutrition to help you enjoy your sports and activities. There is a reason for every movement we use in the gym. We explain why you’re doing what you’re doing.
We are experts on navigating your body and its problems. Chronic pain and dysfunction is not normal for any athlete. We are your first text/call when something goes wrong.
We develop systems and habits linked to measurable goals. And we respect your time and priorities. Give us 2-3 hours per week, and we can change your life.
Measuring the quality of workouts in sweat or soreness is a great way to get injured. Trashing your body is quick and easy. Building athleticism takes patience and consistency.
We focus on longevity, meaning we don’t just train for the next several months—we’re focused on the next several decades.
Blurb C:

VALUE PROP LANGUAGE (still needs work):
This is an investment in learning to use the gym, optimize your body, and support a lifetime of adventure and movement.
If you do the work, it will change your life. Things that hurt will stop hurting. Goals that seemed unattainable will be within reach again. Your twilight years will be more active and enjoyable.
You will develop self-knowledge that is priceless. You will learn to listen to your body and respect what it’s telling you. Knowing when to push harder and when to back off is 80% of avoiding injury and pain.
Our First Principles:
Athleticism is longevity.
The 9 Pillars of Fitness are the qualities of an athlete.
Can tell you precisely why we’re doing what are doing. Most coaches will hem and haw or come up with a reason on the spot that sounds smart but doesn’t make sense.
CASE STUDIES: How we change people’s lives.
Andrew M: 6 months of training 🡪 5 ultra-endurance races with no back issues.
Antonio Ubach: BEN TO ASK
Sonya B: REBECCA TO ASK
Extra – not sure how or if to use yet
More like your body’s mechanic shop.
We make your body work the way you want to, and the way it’s supposed to.
We get the car running optimally. We don’t make you a good driver – that’s where skills coaches come into play.
We are not physical therapists. They are essential following traumatic injuries or surgeries and will get you from incident to daily activity. We take you from functional back to high performance.
You’re going to learn and do movements you’ve never seen before. You will get weird looks when you do them at the gym, at the airport, or at the gas station on a road trip. But because they do so much good for your body, you’re not going to care. Let ‘em stare.
TestimonialS
The only thing I don't like about Ben is the fact that I didn't start working with him sooner!
I'm over 50 years old and still active with multiple mountain sports that include alpine skiing and touring, mountain bike racing, and Nordic skiing, just to name a few. Working with Van Treese training has given me a new perspective on what my potential is. I honestly wish I had been doing strength work and, more importantly, work on my functional range (Kinstretch), years ago.
Last year in March, I had a completely torn ACL repaired. I was very concerned this would affect the pace at which I usually attack sports. Ben and I started working on rehabbing the knee, in conjunction with my physical therapist, a few days post-surgery. At eight months, I was racing cyclocross bikes, and at nine months, started skiing. I figured I'd have a season on skis that was maybe 60 - 70% of my norm. Still, within an hour of being back on the snow, I incredibly felt I was near full strength. By late December, I literally couldn't tell I'd had surgery (aside from the brace I was wearing). I'd say 70% of this was very focused strength conditioning, but a significant component was working on my mobility through Kinstretch.
If having your body in a physical condition that you will feel comfortable attacking any athletic endeavor is essential, especially as you age, start exploring options with Ben and his team as soon as you can.
